Frustrated that television is traditionally a “one-way medium dominated by large companies," former vice president Al Gore will spearhead Current, a topical cable channel for viewers aged 18-34, slated to launch in August. The channel will encourage its audience to make and submit their own videos, allowing them to “engage in the dialogue of democracy,” BBC News reports. By making it easier for young TV viewers to have their voices heard, Gore hopes to “transform the television medium itself.”
